I'm a servant

I have always wanted to see the big things of God. It has been my prayer for a long time now. I don’t know exactly what that looks like, but I don’t put anything past my God. It says in Psalm 145 “His greatness no one can fathom”. I want to see the BIG stuff…the miracles, His kingdom coming powerfully and having a front row seat to it all. How do I attain that? What do I need to do? I ask…but how can I be faithful to Him to receive such an honor as that? I am convinced, so far, that the best way to see what the Father is doing is through serving others. Jesus was the ultimate servant. His ministry was serving others. And Jesus did what He saw the Father doing.

One story God has been pressing on my heart is in John 2, the story where Jesus turns the water into wine at a wedding. This was the first miracle He performed, and who was in the “front row” to witness it and be used in the process? The servants. I love that.

God puts such an emphasis on the importance of serving one another. As a mom and wife, that is ultimately what I do all day. I serve my husband and my son. Um, that doesn’t seem like the “big stuff” to me. Where are the miracles in that? How is His kingdom coming powerfully as I unload the dishwasher…AGAIN?!

I’m wondering how the servants felt the morning they woke up and prepared for the daily grind. Except that day was even MORE work because it was a wedding! Pretty much everyday I wake up thinking about how I have to either load or unload the dishwasher, wash bottles, fold laundry, clean the house, go to the grocery, etc. These servants had NO IDEA they were about to witness a miracle of Jesus. I wish I had more of that “expectancy” in my heart when I wake up. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I count it as a miracle in itself that I get to watch my amazing son play and grow each day. But that’s not the kind of “big stuff” I’m referring to.

Jesus says in Matthew 25 that whatever we do for the least of these, we do for Him. And I think Mylo falls into that category, because he can’t do anything for himself! And in every way I serve him, it is unto the Lord and pleasing to Him. Oh I just KNOW God has such big plans for that little boy, and he is just one of the promises God has fulfilled in my life. It is my job to SERVE him, and through that I KNOW I’m going to see the “big stuff”.
