I'm HUNGRY.

I'm sure many of you have gotten the impression that I am a little "high anxiety" about parenting sometimes. Ok, most of the time. It's mostly just these inward battles in my head. I just want to do everything right, and I don't know if I am or not! Another thing I worry about...nutrition. Am I giving Mylo a well-rounded diet? Is the food I give him nutritional enough? Am I giving him enough variety of healthy foods? I don't want him to only want PB&J or mac 'n cheese.

Mylo so far has not been a picky eater. He eats just about anything I give him. (Thank you Lord!) But it can be difficult sometimes to find things I can give him. He only has two teeth, so everything has to be soft enough for him to mush between his gums. And of course, it has to be nutritious! And I don't want to feed him the same things over and over again. So I'm always looking for new ideas. Have any to share?

Here he is eating one of his new favorites...pasta salad. (I've packed it full of everything I can to give him variety and nutrition!)

Here's the recipe if you're interested:

whole wheat noodles
canned sweet peas
sliced black olives
1 tomato, peeled and diced
1/2 of an avocado
cooked carrots, diced
mild cheddar cheese, cut into chunks
balsamic vinaigrette (equal parts olive oil and balsamic vinegar, with a little bit of salt and sugar.)

I don't really measure anything, so sorry for the "vagueness" of this recipe. Mylo loves it. If you have any recipes that your kids love, please do share!

Randomness:

Sleeping babies are like seeing a bit of heaven here on earth. It melts my heart everytime...

We have our first ultrasound to day to see how the baby is "cooking"! I can't wait to see it! But honestly, I'm more looking forward to seeing how many are in there! My belly is so big, it just would not surprise me at all if it were twins. I'll post later today to let you all know!

I thought the same thing last night as I was rocking Gauge and feeding him his bottle. May favorite part of watching them sleep is their lips...how they smack them, suck on an imaginary paci....I could just eat my little guy up :)

Hmmmm.... Ozzie's favorite snacks are...

frozen blueberries or any berry
pita, cucumber, red pepper and hummus
chickpeas (cold and uncooked... just rinsed and drained)
crackers with salmon (made like tuna salad)
dried cranberries, raisins, banana chips, mango (we get a bunch of dried fruit from trader joes)

Hmmmm... ask me on Thursday and i'm sure i'll have more ideas.

I am all about sneaking healthy things in my kids food. They are not naturally adventurous eaters so I have to be sneaky. Like I will puree a can of white beans to add to the chicken enchiladas. I just got the cookbook Deceptively Delicious and I love it. Today we had oatmeal with pumpkin in it. It's all about pureed fruits and veggies and hiding them in everything from cookies to eggs to mac and cheese. I wish I'd had this book when my youngest was first eating solids. There's another one a friend told me about called The Sneaky Chef. Don't beat yourself up if he only eats a certain color for a month though. Kids are weird like that, but they somehow get what they need eventually!
