Tuesday morning I headed down to Cincinnati to be there while my aunt had brain surgery. On my way down, I stopped at a party store to get some balloons. Because in my opinion all things are better with balloons and/or stickers.
I had my mind set on getting a balloon with a horse on it, because my aunt loves horses. I found the biggest, best horse balloon you ever did see. I could not believe my luck in finding this and couldn't wait to adorn her hospital room with it!

I set it up in her room while she was having surgery and anticipated the joy it would bring her during her recovery.
After almost 10 hours of surgery, we were able to see her very briefly.
This morning we headed back to the hospital where we were utterly and pleasantly surprised at how responsive and down-right AMAZING she was doing for just having BRAIN SURGERY!
I bet she was SO happy to have her family around her, and I but she was SUPER STOKED about her sweeeeet horse balloon!
She was able to talk to us, tell her caregivers her name, the date and more. We had to lean in to hear her because she is talking very quietly and slowly.
When she first started talking to us, we were just so excited. We leaned in to hear what she had to say, and one of the first things that comes out of her mouth while eyeballing the balloons is...
"I hate that f***ing horse."
Oh yes she did.
I cannot wait until this is all over and tell my Aunt Kathy this story. Hilarious and priceless. TOTALLY worth the $8.99 for the horse balloon. And you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be letting the air out of that bad boy and giving it to her for Christmas.
And by the way, my aunt survived an almost 10 hour, complicated, high-risk brain surgery without incident. She's like a super-hero! Please pray for her continued recovery, as the next 10 days are critical in her healing process.
