Easter has always been my favorite holiday. I mean, what's not to love? Easter baskets, egg hunts, candy, bunnies, chickies, spring-time.
Who wouldn't want to receive something like this brought by the magical Easter bunny?

Easter egg hunts? Come on. Is there anything more exciting?

These were the things that made Easter special to me as a kid. SO.MUCH.FUN. And it still is...
But....
Now that I am a follower of Jesus, there is a whole new excitement about Easter that gets my heart racing more than the biggest Easter basket or most extravagant egg hunt.
We celebrate Easter in recognition of the fact the JESUS ROSE FROM THE GRAVE. Death couldn't handle Him and the grave couldn't hold Him. The resurrection means everything...that every prophecy and everything Jesus said is true and real. He humbled Himself to a sinner's death and proved Himself victorious by rising again and taking His rightful place on the throne.
Jesus burst forth on that glorious day, and now stands in victory. Because of what He did, sin has lost its grip on me. I am His, and He is mine.
I love this song by Jeremy Riddle...
I love where he says,
"Where oh death? Where oh death is your sting?
Swallowed up, you're swallowed up in victory."
Amen.
I didn't get to put this post up as early as I wanted because of the busy-ness of the day. But Christ's resurrection wasn't just to be recognized today. It carries over to tomorrow, and everyday thereafter for eternity. I do love so much spending the day remembering the enormity of what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross, and on the third day rising again. Thank you Lord!
And I'll leave you with a couple pics of me and my lovelies on our way to church. SO hard to get two anxious toddlers to hold still, look at the camera, and smile, lol! But that's ok...what I see in these picture are my babies excited to head to church to learn more about Jesus...

(And don't worry, Desi's got on a green striped shirt in there too. I wouldn't leave him out of the matchy-matchiness.)
