Anyone else out there love a good deal?
Me too. :)
I was at a consignment shop yesterday when I found something I knew we couldn't live without.
Actually, it was in another lady's hands.
I was green with envy.
I watched her set it down in the front of the store and walk away.
Was she going to buy it?
Was she just setting it there so she could continue to shop?
Was she abandoning this precious find?
Should I snatch it up before she comes back?
The polite person in me walked over to her and asked her if she was buying it.
She said yes.
My heart sank a bit.
I purchased my other items and walked out to my car.
Something told me to go back.
So yes, I did it. I stalked the lady a bit as I saw the item just sitting in the front of the store. Calling out to me, "Kate I want to go home with you!"
Then I heard the words I was longing to hear.
Yes, as I was pretending to look at items all within an earshot of where this lady was with her kids, I heard her say something to her kids.
"No, we're not getting it, something's wrong with it."
That was my cue!
I snatched it up, oh yes I did!
Whatever was wrong with it my husband can fix, I just know it!
I got it to the register. $28 later, it was mine.
Ok, it's Mylo's. I'm too big for it...

Oh yes my friends, that is a steer and stroll Radio Flyer trike complete with a bell and a trunk and a cupholder for me sitting in MY living room! A comparable trike retails for $90 and I got it for $28!
So why did this lady think something was wrong with this precious treasure of a find at a consignment store?
Well the parent steering thing wasn't working, but it didn't look to me like anything major was wrong. I knew my husband could figure it out. And if not, the parent steering comes off and its a super adorable trike.
I showed it to Jon, and two seconds later, the problem was fixed, and it works perfectly!
Apparently the little pin that keeps the steering console attached was out of place...

Easy Peasy.
I kinda feel sorry for that lady who passed up such an amazing deal for something that was SO easy to fix!
Ok, no, I don't feel sorry for her. :)
I feel excited for US for all the fun times we're going to have with this!

That is so cute! Aren't handy husbands just the best.
That was a GREAT find!!! After having three kids that loved going forward but dind't know how to peddle OR steer... that trike is the ONE to have:) Easy on the parent's back:)
Glad you went back in!
Oh, great find! I wish our trike had parent steering. Bailey keeps riding off into the yard in hers and then ends up off of it.
Good for you for stinking it out and getting that awesome deal! I love scoring cool things that are normal super expensive this way. My mom got the best deal at a garage sale almost 2 years ago. She picked up an ATV Radio Flyer Wagon for $25 or $35. I can't remember the exact amount, but I know it wasn't over $35. It's in perfect shape and when I got home I looked online and they retail for $159!!! We used it all the time with the boys. I'm sure you're boys are going to have a blast with their new tricycle!
Great find and buy !!! grandpops and nana.
Swa-eeeet! Good for you, a girl after my own heart!! You'll enjoy that trike even more!
